Cities are living organisms that change with group values. As a result, whether all citizens can gather a high-quality consensus will determine the fate of the city. Any ideas and plans of the city must listen to public opinion and reflect the needs of residents. The process of public participation emphasizes gradual, dialogue, in-depth, learning and choice. Construction does not necessarily represent progress, and wrong construction is far more harmful than no construction. Many cities only know how to do hardware construction, but lack the support for the overall goal and social contract, resulting in confusion of values. This is not the true meaning of urban planning.

Urban planning in Taiwan lacks overall and forward-looking planning. Coupled with the lack of social participation and professional integration, disasters are frequent, the environment is poor, and people's support is not available. In terms of deliberation, fairness and openness are insufficient, privileges often intervene, and professionalism cannot stand out. As for enforcement, the laws are complicated and unclear, illegal and rampant, and there is no fairness and justice in the society.

Fen Ping has been studying urban planning for 40 years, and his knowledge is very limited, but he has deep expectations for the development of urban planning in China. Ai's deeply responsible state of mind is reflected in his articles published in various newspapers for more than ten years, now there are more than 100 articles. From the topic of the article, it is not difficult to see the problems faced by the city, and it is also possible to realize that the solution to each problem cannot be approached from a single level, but involves a comprehensive approach. But we still have a headache. Thinking that the urban crisis is getting deeper and deeper, and the society is constantly paying a painful price, how can we tolerate it any longer!

Finally, I would like to use this book to remember the kindness of my beloved founder of Xiaofeng and Mr. Yu Zheng and his wife.
